Quickturn Palladium System Deployed by QLogic for High-performance Simulation Acceleration
SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 19, 2002--Quickturn(TM), a
company of Cadence® Design Systems, Inc. (NYSE:CDN - news), today announced
that QLogic Corporation's (Nasdaq:QLCG - news) Network Storage Group has
purchased the Quickturn Palladium(TM) design verification system.
QLogic will use it as the platform for verifying its Fibre Channel
switches, adapters, and switch management products.
QLogic, a leader in integrated storage networking, chose the
Palladium system to provide its design team with a productive system
for simulation acceleration of its Fibre Channel designs. The purchase
followed QLogic's successful use of Quickturn's verification systems
via QuickCycles, a turnkey program that provides remote access to
Quickturn verification environments on a pay-as-you-go basis.
"Our decision to purchase Palladium was based on the success we
had using Quickturn's QuickCycles program to verify our SANbox2 Fibre
Channel switch," said Mike Knudsen, vice president and general
manager, QLogic Network Storage Group. "Simulation runs that would
have taken 20 hours on our simulators took less than one minute on
Quickturn's verification systems. As the size and complexity of our
switch designs have continued to grow, so has our need to have a
verification system like Palladium in-house. Based on an early on-site
evaluation, Palladium's compile and run-time performance will provide
us with faster design turns and higher debug productivity for our next
projects."
In addition to simulation acceleration, Palladium can be used
in-circuit to emulate a chip or system in its real environment before
tape-out. Quickturn has turnkey networking verification environments
that can be used to debug designs using stimuli based on real-world
data standards. By combining software applications, hardware
emulation, and stimulus generated by network testers into one complete
environment, networking chips and entire systems can be verified
earlier in the development cycle.
"We are pleased that QLogic has invested in and adopted
hardware-based verification tools based on past success with our
QuickCycles program," said Christopher Tice, Cadence senior vice
president and Quickturn general manager. "The Palladium system
delivers a high level of compile and run-time performance for
simulation acceleration and emulation. As an early adopter of our
Palladium system, QLogic may realize the benefits of Quickturn's
latest generation hardware-based verification system. These include
higher productivity, reduced verification time, and increased product
quality, translating into fast time-to-market that is crucial for
companies in the networking industry."
